Small groups. Considered pace. Access that comes from a decade working inside the safari industry.

Why travel with Bavu

The difference is not the itinerary. Most itineraries for the same destinations look similar on paper. The difference is the company, the access, the context, and the intention behind the experience.

Bavu has spent a decade working inside southern African safari—not as a visitor but as an operator, guide, and voice in the industry. He knows which operations are worth your time and which are selling a story. He knows the people, the places, and the conversations that make a trip memorable rather than merely expensive.

All guiding and safety logistics are handled by licensed field guides and, where required, appropriately licensed operating partners. Bavu's role is host, curator, and the reason the experience feels different.

Genuine access
Relationships built over years in the industry, not a booking platform.
Small groups
Typically 2–6 guests. The conversation is different at that scale.
Your pace
Curiosity-led, not checklist-led. We stop when something is worth stopping for.
Honest curation
Bavu recommends only what he would personally stand behind.

Private journeys

Build your own.

Not every extraordinary experience fits a fixed departure. If you have a group, a destination in mind, specific dates, or a particular kind of experience in mind— let's talk about what is possible.

Private journeys are designed around your group, your interests, and your pace. They typically require 4–8 weeks of lead time and a minimum group of two. Pricing is on request and reflects the specific itinerary.

What a private journey enquiry looks like

  1. 1You share your group, preferred dates, destination interests, and any constraints.
  2. 2Bavu reviews the enquiry and responds within 3 business days with initial ideas and questions.
  3. 3A brief conversation to align on what the trip should feel like.
  4. 4A detailed proposal with itinerary, accommodation options, inclusions, and pricing.
  5. 5Finalise and confirm with the relevant operating partner.

Frequently asked

Who operates the safaris legally and holds the necessary licences?

All guiding and operational functions are handled by appropriately licensed and insured field guides and operating partners. Bavu's role is as host and curator—not as a licensed field guide or registered travel operator. The relevant licensed entity is disclosed in the trip details and before any booking confirmation.

What destinations do you cover?

Currently southern Africa—primarily South Africa (Greater Kruger and surroundings), with selected regional destinations. The geographic range will grow as relationships and operating partnerships develop.

Is travel insurance required?

Yes. Travel insurance covering medical evacuation, trip interruption, and personal liability is required for all guests. Bavu can recommend providers on request.

What if I have dietary requirements or accessibility considerations?

Please include these in your enquiry. Most considerations can be accommodated with advance notice. Some terrain and activities have physical requirements—these are described in detail for each trip.
